Maintenance Methods for Paper Cushion Machines
2026-07-03

A paper cushion machine is an eco-friendly cushioning packaging device widely used in e-commerce, logistics, and manufacturing. It processes paper rolls into filling paper cushions for shock absorption, impact protection, and void filling. To ensure long-term stable operation, regular maintenance is very important. This article explains daily maintenance, operating precautions, and common troubleshooting methods for paper cushion machines.

1. Daily Maintenance

Regularly clean dust and paper scraps from the equipment surface

Paper cushion machines produce paper scraps during operation. If not cleaned in time, scraps can accumulate around transmission parts and affect operating efficiency. It is recommended to clean the equipment housing and paper-feeding area with a clean soft cloth at the end of each working day.

Check the paper-feeding system and cutter components

The paper-feeding device and cutting system are key maintenance points. Regularly check for paper jams, paper-scrap blockage, or dull cutters. Wipe the cutter with alcohol when necessary and replace blades regularly.

Lubricate moving parts

Regularly add lubricant to moving parts such as chains, gears, and motor bearings to help the paper cushion machine run smoothly while reducing noise and wear.

2. Operating Precautions

Use paper rolls recommended by the manufacturer

Different paper cushion machine brands have certain requirements for paper quality. Using qualified raw materials helps the equipment run more smoothly and prevents issues such as jamming and tearing.

Avoid frequent starts and stops

Frequent starts and stops may cause motor overheating or control-system abnormalities. Operators should arrange the work rhythm properly and keep the equipment running steadily.

Operate according to the manual

Before operating a paper cushion machine, read the equipment manual carefully and make sure operators understand all buttons and procedures to prevent damage caused by incorrect operation.

 3. Common Faults and Solutions

Paper jam    Paper roll offset or feeding-path blockage    Adjust the paper roll direction and clean the feeding path

Cutter is not sharp   Long use time or paper too thick   Replace the cutter or paper

Equipment has no power   Loose plug or power supply issue     Check the power socket and power cord

Abnormal operating noise  Lack of lubrication or foreign objects stuck inside        Add lubricant and remove foreign objects

4. Recommended Regular Professional Inspection

In addition to daily maintenance, it is recommended to arrange a full professional inspection every6 months for the paper cushion machine, including electrical control system inspection and internal parts wear checks. If the company has limited in-house maintenance capability, it can also contact the manufacturer's after-sales team or a professional service provider for technical support.
